Oh my Gerd! I had this idea… yesterday, then I woke up at 4:00 am this morning thinking about it and I knew what I had to do. I have officially pulled the trigger on my idea. Ta-Da, here’s the website. I’m Super Duper excited about this.
Here’s my “Big Idea”. NOBODY DESIGNS COMPLETED ROOMS THAT ARE EASY TO BUY ONLINE. If you want to furnish a room, an apartment, a house, you have to piece it together yourself, or you have to hire an interior designer. Seeing as how most people can’t afford an interior designer, were back to piecing it together yourself.
In theory, piecing together the furnishings for your home yourself should be fun. Sure you can find a ton of inspiration from magazines, Pinterest, and Google. You can shuffle from resources to retailer websites, maybe the pieces you like are still available, maybe they are even in your price range, but chances are the links are going to be dead ends, or the pieces that you love are out of your price range. You could search for similar items that you can actually afford, and just when you think you’ve found it, the color that you want is out of stock. Pfft! So you search some more, the hours are beginning to stack up, you are getting discouraged and depressed. You finally give up and settle on a couch that keeps you within your budget because how much longer can you sit on outdoor folding chairs in your living room? Your couch finally arrives and the delivery guy immediately gives you a form to sign. You read it and it’s saying that you accept the couch when they haven’t even opened the box yet. What if something is wrong with it? Experience has already taught you, “Never Trust the Furniture Delivery Guy”. You ask them to open the box to check the couch first before you sign. It’s BLACK when you ordered GRAY! Retreat! Whew, you bit the bullet on that one. Looks like you are going to continue to sit on those outdoor folding chairs, Little Missy. Moral to the story, going it alone is BRUTAL, and the couch you finally end up with isn’t even deep enough. When you nap on it, you feel like you’re going to fall off the edge.
Here’s the plan: I’m going to create completed rooms with valid links to buy each piece, along with details on how to measure your rooms to ensure that everything will fit. Think of it as “Achievable Inspiration”. Each design will come with a checklist of all the pieces in the design. The checklist will include the prices, and the links for where to buy everything. This way, you can check off pieces as needed.
The room designs will come in varying price ranges between $500-$10,000. Now, I know what your thinking. There’s no way you can furnish an entire room for $500. Well, I’m going to share a little secret about myself with you. I can stretch a dollar like a rhythmic gymnast’s oversplit. (If you don’t know, Google it.)
Alright, let me get to work. I’ll be back shortly with my first design. I can’t say enough how excited I am.
